Beyond Boundaries

Rotary Club of Pune Shivajinagar is known and appreciated for its mega projects like Industrial Fairs and District Enkankika.  Through constant innovation, we are consistently delivering and doing good for society.

Having said this, there are many clubs within our district and beyond who are successfully running some flagship projects.

Through “Beyond Boundaries” we would like to bring glimpses of such projects which will be an inspiration and motivation for us in the coming years!!

Rotary e-Club One (RID 5450)

Greetings,

History of the first Rotary eClub in the world.

The unique concept of Rotary eClub One was developed by a design committee from D5450, commencing work in March 2001 under the leadership of John Minter, D5450 Governor’s Representative and a member of the sponsoring Rotary Club of Boulder, Colorado.

After a few months, The Board of Rotary International approved the world’s first provisional Rotary E-club (Rotary eClub One) in 2001 with John Minter as its Charter President.

On January 18, 2002, Bhichai Rattakul, Rotary International President 2002-2003, attended a Quad-District Rotary Foundation dinner in Denver Colorado where Rotary eClub One was presented with its Charter Certificate, dated January 4, 2002.

This is how the first eClub of Rotary was chartered.

In the last twenty years the club grew exponentially and today after 20 years Rotary eClub One has 70+ members in 15 countries spanning all continents from North America to Oceania.

Signature projects

In Rotary eClub One there are members from fifteen countries. Hence the projects we execute are from all countries where members are located. However, there are some places we extend our help to the community.

We have executed malnutrition projects in many places across 13 states, some of the places are :

Karjat: Varne Thakurwadi, Narsuchi Wadi, Tiware

Pune: Manchar, Chakan, Nigdi,

Mumbai: Titwala, Kalyan, Ambarnath

Murbad: Moroshi, Tokawade

Chhattisgarh: Durg

Odisha: Angul, Talcher

Malnutrition project: make malnutrition a history- A showcase project

This was one of our flagship projects which started on 1st March 2018 and ended on 28th Feb 2019. Our partner club for this project was  E-Club One of District 5450, CO, USA (Rotary Club)

Since November 2013 we have been working on our project of *Nutritional Food Supplements to Malnourished Children. “Narsuchi Wadi” is a small tribal village in a hilly region, about 100 miles from Mumbai in India which was one of the locations of the malnutrition project. On the occasion of the 114th birthday of Rotary,   all the members of #rotaryeclubone   celebrated *World Rotary Day*  in India

There is a small school which has 41  in the age group of 6 to 10 years. Here almost all children are malnourished.  . We provided nutritional food supplements like dates, dry cakes of jaggery and peanuts to these children. In   5 months we observed that almost all children were gaining weight and were in good health. In our mission to *make malnutrition history* such news is indeed great to boost our morale !!!!!
