RCMPâS POSITIVE IMPACT TO NEGATE COVID 19 IMPACT
Rotary Club of Mumbai Parleshwar (RCMP) in its 28th year of existence continues to follow the path of âCommunity Service with Fellowshipâ. It is based out of Vile Parle East, a suburb of Mumbai. RCMP is one of the most active, fast-growing, and vibrant Rotary Clubs in Rotary International District 3141. The majority of the clubâs projects have been focused within Mumbai, Raigad & Palghar districts. Our projects involve school adoption, paediatric heart surgeries, dialysis machine donations, educational and vocational projects, check dams in Adivasi areas, medical check-ups and treatment, hospital up-gradation, ambulance donation, cultural and health awareness events, blood donation camps, war veteransâ project, financial aids to special children, and other socially relevant topics.
The club has 3 global grant projects valued at over Rs. 1.75 crores on its record. It is said that every crisis presents an opportunity to make a difference. The global crisis of Covid 19 has been no different. In the very first month of March 2020, RCMP committed its energy, efforts, and funds to initiate various humanitarian projects. Be it the funds raised for RID 3141âs drive to distribute grocery kits to the poor or a donation to PM Cares fund. Within one month of the onset of the nationwide lockdown, RCMP was able to positively impact over 6,000 human lives.
During the initial months, RCMPâs focus was to support frontline workers. The expanse of our projects included PPE Kits for doctors & staff at various hospitals; breakfast and lunch for staff of Mumbai Municipal Corporation’s sanitation department; Meals, Sanitization kits provided to staff at bus depots. Apart from this, RCMP provided active assistance to the Municipal Primary Healthcare Centres, Post Offices, and Police Stations in nearby areas.
Focus on supporting the underprivileged was driven thru a supply of food grain kits; reusable face masks for slum dwellers; preventive medication and vitamin supplements in Adiwasi padas of the Karjat area. RCMPâs crusade to fight the menace of Covid 19 reached all the way to the brave hearts of the Indian army based in Srinagar, Kargil and other areas of Leh-Ladakh.

RCMP undertook many initiatives to support Indiaâs Covid vaccination campaign. Installation of air coolers at Covid vaccination centres & patient isolation units was instrumental in providing a breeze of relief during hot nâ humid summers of Mumbai. Around May 2021, India announced covid vaccination for all citizens above the age of 18 years. Needless to say, this warranted ramp-up of cold chain infra at vaccination centres. RCMP rose to the occasion and donated a medical-grade freezer to Seven Hills Hospital, one of the largest Covid vaccination centres in the suburbs of Mumbai.
RCMPâs Director of Medical Projects, Rtn Atul Gokhale, organised a vaccination drive for its club members and for Sr citizens who had difficulty reaching the vaccination centre. RCMPâs efforts have been well appreciated and recognised as 2 of its members, Rtn PP Bhalchandra Barve and Rtn Atul Gokhale, have been felicitated as Covid Warriors at various forums. In its fight against the scourge of Covid 19, the Rotary Club of Mumbai Parleshwar has had a direct positive impact on over 60,000 beneficiaries and indirectly over lakhs of human lives.
